I MET BOTH JOE AND KEVIN WHILE WORKING AT MATHER AIRPORT. ON OCCASION I HAD THE OPPOTUNITY TO FUEL THE GUYS' HELICOPTER WHEN THEIR FUEL TRUCK WAS BROKEN. I ALWAYS TOLD THEM THAT, NO MATTER HOW LATE OR EARLY, THEY NEEDED MORE FUEL, TO JUST CALL, AND IF NO ONE WAS AT THE FBO I TOLD THEM SINCE I JUST LIVED DOWN THE ROAD TO JUST FLY OVER THE HOUSE HIT THE SPEAKER AND SAY C'MON OUT ED WE NEED GAS!
IT WAS THE LEAST I COULD DO FOR THEM. I WILL MISS WAVING AS THEY FLY OVERHEAD.

To the loved ones of Deputy Kievernagle and Deputy Blount:
As I was driving home today, I noticed the freeway lined with Officers, Firefighters upon their ladders and people everywhere. I was overwhelmed watching all the love and support in our County! I am sorry for your loss and hope each of you know that you have support where ever you turn!

I wanted to let the families know that I feel the grief of the loss of these brave Deputy's. On February 16, 1997 my brother-in-law, San Diego County Deputy Sheriff, Patrick Coyle the flight observer onboard an ASTREA helicopter was killed when the craft went down. He was the ASTREA divisions first air fatality. Watching this on the news brings back each memory in such vivid detail it is like his death was yesterday. He left behind a wife, my twin sister, and two children, a son and a daughter. Once again, I would like to express my condolences and let these families know I will pray for them. God Bless

My daughter Jennifer and Laura, Kevin's sister, were best friends from elementary school through junior high.

The girls were inseparable. They were either at the Cook or the Blount home; or at least that is what we, the parents, were lead to believe. As Jenn tells it now, "you don't really want to know!"


But someone did, and that was Kevin. Jenn had a huge crush on him - he was the handsome, older, fun brother, you could tease and flirt with, but who treated you with respect. And he also looked after the girls to ensure that they didn't get into too much trouble.

Several years ago, my son Wes and his friend were pulled over by Kevin. Heaven only knows for what. I recall that after that encounter, Wes was more convinced than ever that someday he, too wanted to become a Sherriff. He liked Kevin's style. Today, he is actively working to make that dream a reality.

My family and I feel a tremendous sense of sadness at your loss. However, be comforted by knowing that Kevin's spirit with be with us, always.

Tom and Kathy - thank you for Kevin and the positive impact he brought and continues to bring because of the memories my children have of him.

Laura and Adam - honor your brother by ensuring that his contribution to the community and to those he cared for are not forgotten but carried on....

Myt father Robert J Mcgarvey attended the service at St John Vianney Church this morning along with other members of the Rancho Cordova City Council. I was watching it on the television and was amazed at all the officers and the community coming together to support all our law enforcement it was just awesome. I think we are all blessed to have our officers of all nations and it was especially neat to see an offier from England come as well. I want to thank Joe and Kevin and all our officers for their heroism and the the duty they do to protect us.
May God Bless them all and the families and friends of Kevin and Joe and Eric.

Today on my way to work I saw officers from Fremont Ca And I was moved, I then said a prayer for Kevin and Joseph and their families
Thank You for all the good you guys did while here on earth.

Just to let everybody know that I have added these 2 very much loved officers t my find a grave records.I have added my thoughts at this site. Great way to remeber and honor our loved ones who have gone before us in glory.My sympathy to the families. These 2 young officers were always together in life, and now are together for eternity; never to die.

Thank you for sharing these two wonderful people with our community. I was so moved watching TV today, and then personally witnessing the motorcade as it passed by on the freeway. It brought tears to my eyes, not just because of all the participation by law enforcement from all over in honoring the deputies, but also because two men loved their jobs so much, that they were willing to take risks every day to protect us. May God be with each family member and friend that is grieving, and may He comfort you at this time.

Even though I love the infamous outlaw life, I feel the great loss of these worthy oponents. Well this is a noble profession and even those of us whom are not so noble respect them for the job they do. RIP guys thanks for protecting the world from evil. I'll try to keep it on the level!

Thanks, Kevin, for caring about the public and serving with a smile. I still remember you, how courteous you were, and how concerned you were that people stay safe and away from trouble. Thank you for helping me when I needed you... you even called me at home just to make sure that everything turned out alright, simply because you cared, even though I didn't know you that well. You will be missed.

I parked at 65th in front of SMUD today before the procession started, because I wanted to be there to pay tribute to those 2 officers. As I was walking away, I saw another woman who was wiping her eyes. I walked up to her and said I didn't feel so alone about crying. She replied that she had know one of the officers who had served in the Antelope area, she worked at a Circle K. I live in that area as well. We often forget how brave these men and women are to go to work everday. My husband heard the dispatch come in when the copter went down, as he is an x volunteer fireman for the City of Sacto. There is no other brotherhood like the police depts and the firemen. To all of you, THANK YOU for your service. God Bless the families.

I STOPPED FOR THE PROCESSION ON MY WAY TO A LATE LUNCH. I WAS THINKING OF THE INCONVIENANCE OF AT FIRST BY AS A WATCH THE EMERGENCY VEHICLES AND POLICE CRUISERS DRIVE BENEATH ME UNDER THE FREEWAY OVERPASS I WAS TOUCHED. Hello to Brian Amos. I met your mother today as we watched the funeral procession of cars. She seem to be a very nice lady and she is ver proud of her two officer.

We would like to say that we are very sorry for the loss of the two deputy's. I was watching it on the T.V. and when they were showing pictures of them as young kids and when one of them git married you think man i feel for her.
Again we have retired Deputy's in our family and we are greatfull that they received the heart felt good by they Deserved.

My heart felt sympathies go out to the Kievernagel and Blount families. It can not be said enough of how much a tragedy the deaths of these two sheriff's deputies is. I watched the live coverage of the funeral and at times I had to choke back tears. They will truly not be forgotten.

I am saddened as I sit here and know that my 10 year old son is on the overpass overlooking the freeway as the procession drives by. He knows officers died in a crash, but in his young life death has yet to really touch him, as it has so unexpectedly touched you.

My family and I grieve for you, and wish you all the strength and courage to get through this difficult time.

I am sorry for the lose of the two men they will never be forgotten and they will be in are hearts forever they are in a better place.

I decided that my lunch today should be spent near the Bradshaw overpass on Highway 50. On a grassy knoll, I stood and watched as the cars passed. In my 37 years, I've never seen such an awesome sight. Beloved were they, that a community would come out in droves, just to be support those who have lost.
