As the sister of Lt. Dan Dailey, also with the Sac. County Sheriff's Dept,My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your families. You just never realize how important the duty of an officer is. How we take for granted that they will always come home to us, as they are the protectors of everyone. Take care and god bless. I know the department will miss and honor the two hero's the community and families have lost. Best wishes to everyone.

SO LONG FOR NOW

You look so peaceful lying there
With your hands folded upon your chest.
You look like you are sleeping
But you are at eternal rest.
So Long For Now.

Not a hair out of place,
Your make-up nicely done,
A beautiful smile upon your lips -
For now you are with Absalom.
When someone special passes on
It does not mean they are gone,
Though they are no longer with us
Their memory still lives on.
It hurts so much to lose a friend -
Especially one that is trustworthy and kind.
you were that special friend,
A rare and special find.
you will always be with us
In spirit and in mind.
You will always have a special place in our heart
Forever until the end of time.
We will not say "Good-bye".
This is not the end.
So we will just say, "So long..."

Until we meet again.

Please read this poems to the families:

YOUR TRUELY AN ANGELS

You truly were an angel
sent from God in heaven above.
Your shocking death just broke the hearts of everyone you loved.
When we found out that you had died we thought that they were wrong.
You were so alive - and then
just like that, you were gone.
A flame blown out in seconds,
Confirming our worst fears -
A light that shines no more on earth
for which we shed many tears.
But still you are my beacon
And I need you right now.
You hear all the prayers we say
Because they are answered somehow.
we wish that you could be here,
But in a way you are.
Your symbol of a rose goes everywhere with me,
so we know you can't be far.
It still is quite a shock to me
that you had to die;
But no one will forget you
And we love you, and goodbye.

NO TEARS PAST THE GATE

Someone new has entered our eternal home above
The heavenly gate has opened wide
to welcome one you love.
We cannot help the tears that fall
our hearts need time to grieve
when earthly life has ended
and a loved one has to leave.
Yet even in the saddest time,
we know our Savior lives,
and we can trust completely
in the promise that He gives
that in a glad reunion with the lord
our loved ones wait
to welcome us in joy
with no more tears beyond the gate.

The Broken Chain

We little knew that morning that God

Was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly,

In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you,

You did not go alone;

For part of us went with you,

The day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories,

Your love is still our guide;

And though we can not see you,

You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken,

And nothing seems the same;

But as God calls us one by one,

THE CHAIN will link again.

These poems seem to fit and I wish to extend my deepest sympathys to families and friends of all the officers. I will keep all of you in my prayers. And for Officer Henrickson, may you have a full and speedy recovery. To Officer Blount and Officer Kievernagle you are true HEROS and you are loved by those who know you and to those who don't, and you will be missed terribly.

HERO...

There's a hero
If you look inside your heart
You don't have to be afraid
Of what you are
There's an answer
If you reach into your soul
And the sorrow that you know
Will melt away
And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you
It's a long road
When you face the world alone
No one reaches out a hand
For you to hold
You can find love
If you search within yourself
And the emptiness you felt
Will disappear
And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you
Lord knows
Dreams are hard to follow
But don't let anyone
Tear them away
Hold on
There will be tomorrow
In time
You'll find the way
And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you.

it is very hard loosing a loved one. But to loose 2 people that fight for the protection of not just there family, but for every family in the county and city is a great loss. Not just to there families, but to all the families they have protected in there time of service. They will both be missed. And to the family of the officer that is fighting for his life. Always remember that God has a plan for that person. And he has fulfilled that plan to the best of his ability by protecting your family and God's family. He will recover and be better than he was before. God Bless all of the families that were affected by this tragedy. grin

Growing up on the bluff since the 70's I have always heard the Sherrif's helicopter above and many times their spotlight would shine into my bedroom and wake me up, but I was never bothered by that in fact I felt safer when I knew they were up there. And on the day that Joe and Kevin were killed once again I could hear the helicopter above, myself living again one street away from where they crashed. Its a terrible feeling when you know that someone has gone down especially when you know that they were always up there to protect you. My prayers go to the family of Joe and Kevin and also for Eric and his family.

On behalf of the Allen/Clark family, thank you guys, job well done! The Lord is my Sheppard; I shall not want. He maketh me lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me down the path of Rightousness for His name's sake. Yeah though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death; I will fear no evil, for though art with me. Thy Rod and Thy Staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies; Thou annointest my head with oil. My cup runneth over! Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever. God's peace be on you both and your families.

I believe I was fortunate enought to have flown with both of these outstanding gentlemen. As a member of the Drowning Accident Rescue Team, I have been tranported on several occassions by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office Aviation Unit. These fine folks have always shown extreme professionalism. They even took the time out of their day to allow my 3 boys to visit the helicopter at Mather. This is a day that my sons will never forget. They still talk about sitting inside of that helicopter with star struck eyes. My family and I offer our most sincere condolences. We will be saying many prayers for your loved ones.
