Stazzo Laid to Rest
SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR SUPPORTERS

It was a beautiful day for a dog - 75 degrees, a very slight breeze, cool grass, and some shade trees to keep you feeling good. On this day, my partner Stazzo was laid to rest at the Pet Cemetery at The East Lawn/Sierra Hills Mortuary.

Stazzo was laid down for a well-deserved rest in a beautiful place, on a great day, and surrounded by people who respected and loved him. Stazzo was surrounded by many other Law Enforcement canines, some of whom he worked with side by side during his time with the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department.

Thanks to the people who have donated to and supported the SSD K9 Association, Stazzo’s burial was done at no cost to my family or I, or the rest of the SSD K9 Detail. I cannot begin to thank those of you who have helped our unit over the past year and a half, for without your support, we would not be able to provide the best care and burial our faithful partners deserve. We are fortunate to have outside supporters/sponsors who care for the well being of our partners as much as we do.

If you are ever in the area, Stazzo and his friends always welcome visitors at their resting place. It is a touching thing to see the other dogs there, all of whom meant something very dear to the Peace Officers who had the good fortune to spend a bit of their lives with a unfailingly loyal companion. I too will visit Stazzo every so often to recall our good times together and wish him well.

Stazzo’s final resting place will be memorialized with an etched marble plaque commemorating his life and times. As is fitting for a canine partner like Stazzo, it will be an everlasting tribute to his loyalty, courage, and friendship. Although I am saddened by his passing, I consider myself fortunate to have had Stazzo in my life.

Rest In Peace, Stazzo.

IN AETERNUM – FIDELITAS, FEROCITAS, ET AMICITIA.

"Ian,

So sorry to hear about your partner. I have lost two myself and both were very difficult. He was a valuable member of the department and I'm sure he made you proud many times.

"Dear Ian:

I am so sorry about Stazzo. Your tributes to him are incredibly touching. He was a hero and it really is nice to know that his resting place will be safe and peaceful. Thank you and Stazzo for all you did (and do) to keep us safe. Kathy Young"
