SSD In The Line of Duty
On October 25, 1979, Detective Christopher Boone was shot and killed in the line of duty.........
Chris was working a surveillance assignment in the home of a woman who had been receiving obscene and threatening telephone calls. A investigation plan had been devised to have Detective Boone be at the residence when a call would come in from the suspect. The suspect knew where the female lived which made this case very critical to capturing the suspect. The call came in and the suspect made threatening statements about assaulting the victim. The suspect was invited to the female’s residence. When the suspect entered the home Detective Boone identified himself as a police officer and he attempted to place the suspect in handcuffs. A violent struggle ensued and during that confrontation Detective Boone was shot and killed. Deputy Boone received the Department’s highest award, the Medal of Valor. The Sheriff’s Department North Patrol Station was dedicated to his memory. Detective Chris Boone is buried at South East Lawn Memorial Park. Members of the Bruce Verhoeven Foundation will place a floral tribute to Detective Boone at his gravesite.
