Deputy Jeff Mitchell Baseball Field Project

We would like to pass along information we received regarding a little league baseball field that will be built through donations in honor of Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Mitchell who was killed in the line of duty. Please click on the link below to see a design of the field and make a donation. It is amazing and something every little leaguer will be excited to play on.

On October 27, 2006 Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Mitchell was murdered while on duty. Jeff served nine years with the department and was known as an outstanding, dedicated officer. He left behind a wife and 6 year old son. Since 1850 the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department has lost 16 officers killed in the line of duty. In order to honor his sacrifice and the sacrifices of all our public service heroes, family, friends and a caring community would like to create a memorial to Jeff and others who put their life on the line everyday for our protection and the protection of our communities.

Since Jeff had a passion for baseball and kids, it was suggested that a baseball field would be a fitting memorial of his ultimate sacrifice for others and inspire our youth with positive role models. Plans are now underway for the Deputy Jeff Mitchell Field which will not only honor Jeff, but will honor all our local public service heroes. The existing sports field at Bertelsen Park in El Dorado Hills will be renovated to a state of the art tournament play Little League field. This park was chosen because it was close to Jeff’s home in El Dorado Hills.

Please visit www.JEFFMITCHELLFIELD.com to make a donation or to get more information. A design of the field is on the website.
