Early SSD K9 Officer Passes Away

John Cristopher Arndt

Born on September 19, 1948, in Stockton, California to the late Ben Arndt and Jessie Fowell. He passed away on April 7, 2008 due to complications from diabetes.

John graduated from Lincoln High School in 1966 and joined the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department in 1977. He later joined the K-9 unit where, together with his K-9 partner Maxx, he apprehended countless criminals.

In his early years, he was an avid runner and after he retired had a love for fly fishing. He is survived by his wife Lindsey, sons Jarrod Kane and Jesse James (Amy), step-mother Barbara, brother Ben Jr., sister Patty Haddock, granddaughter Kathryn Vaselenuick and many nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held Friday, April 18, 2008, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 8701 Elk Grove-Florin Rd, Elk Grove at 10:30 a.m. Donations can be made to the Sacramento Sheriff K-9 Association at www.ssdk9.com/content/donate/ or to The Bruce Verhoeven Foundation, PO Box 160923, Sacramento, CA 95816-0923.
