SDPS Match To Benefit SSD K9

A few months back the Sacramento Sheriff K9 Association was contacted by Wayne K. Johnson, President of the Sacramento Defensive Pistol Shooters (S.D.P.S.) S.D.P.S. is a defensive pistol shooting club that uses realistic scenarios, stock and near stock handguns and gear for competitive matches. They are affiliated with the International Defensive Pistol Association (I.D.P.A.) Their members are made up of citizens and law enforcement officers.

Members of the SSD K9 Unit have been invited to shoot in the competition. Check our photo gallery for pictures following the competition.

Wayne had mentioned that the shooting club holds matches every first Sunday of the month and they occasionally donate the registration fees to a non profit organization. We are happy to say that S.D.P.S. wants to donate the fees from their upcoming match on May 4th to the Sacramento Sheriff K9 Association. Special thanks to Wayne Johnson and the members of S.D.P.S. for their generous support!

The S.D.P.S. prides themselves on being “New shooter friendly.” They stress gun safety and offer new shooter safety orientations before the start of every match. Take a look at their website and the I.D.P.A. website for more information.
