- To the department and families of these fallen heroes, our deepest and most heartfelt condolences. Your grievous reality is the perpetual fear of any law enforcement family. We were moved to see such an overwhelming display of honor and recognition by the community. Their actions spoke volumes, not only to those lost, but to the brave deputies and officers who will continue to serve our area. We hope those of you who have the unfortunate experience of encountering the fractional percentage of ignorant people, whose only understanding of this loss was the temporary inconvenience to their petty lives; know that they are by far the minority. There continue to be multitudes of people who did not know your fallen men, their families or co-workers, or any law enforcement at all and yet can not talk about them or the funeral without tears in their eyes. This tribute was not only appropriate but earned by the daily sacrifices of this profession. I send my thoughts and prayers for healing from your loss and safety for the days to come to all of you, every day.
