- To the citizens who lined the streets and stood on overpasses along the procession route in the blazing heat, I Thank You. Along the route I saw many holding flags, saluting, waving, and holding signs. Many brought their children who would wave as we drove by. Every officer I have talked to was extremely moved by your show of support for our fallen deputies. I felt very proud to be a law enforcement officer today.

- It is often said that in Law Enforcement, we constantly deal with the 2% of society that no one else wants to deal with. Because of that, we often think everyone out there is part of the 2% and we forget the other 98% that support us and respect us for what we do. It is hard not to become jaded in this job, but when I saw the public support given to our fallen brothers and our profession, it brought me back to reality. I got the feeling of pride and prestige all over again, reminding me why I, along with thousands of other cops, pin on the badge each day.
To all of you who took the time to stand in the heat on overpasses, yards and sidewalks, stopped your cars on the freeway, saluted, waved, and even cried - Thank you. It meant everything to Joe, Kevin, Eric, their families, and the rest of us out there as the "Thin Blue Line". Your support in our time of despair won't be forgotten.

- To all the people who I saw sitting in traffic or standing along side the road waving, saluting, or holding up signs, I want to thank you so very much. It makes me remember why I became a Deputy Sheriff.
