My career as a Deputy with the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department began in 1996. Upon being hired I was assigned to a custody position at the Sheriff’s Main Jail. In 1999 I transferred to patrol services and worked various areas in north Sacramento. In 2002 I was selected to become a member of the Sheriff’s Parole Impact Team, referred to as PIT. This team tracked down parolees actively committing crimes and avoiding capture.
In 2003 I achieved a career goal and was selected to join the Sheriff’s K9 Detail. Upon coming to the unit I was teamed up with a veteran K9 named Arys. Arys had worked on the streets with another handler for nearly four years. That handler promoted to sergeant and later was assigned back to the K9 detail. Arys and I worked as partners on the street for over a year until it was decided that he should retire due to medical issues. Arys was a great partner and now lives with a good friend on 5 acres. Arys enjoys being retired, he likes to sleep on the couch and play with his best friend Sand Man, a 120-pound Nikita.
My new K9 partner Rex a Belgian Malinois. Rex is from Holland. Rex is full of energy and is always ready for work. Rex lives at home with my family, including our Labrador retriever, Blu. Rex is a very happy dog and enjoys being around people. He only has two goals, to be a good partner and find the bad guy!
