I started my career with the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department in February of 1998.  I started as an on call Deputy and then was hired on full time with the department in September of 1998.

I was assigned to the Rio Cosumnes Correctional center where I spent the first two and a half years of my career.  After working the jail I transferred out to patrol services in October of 2000. While working patrol I worked all areas of Sacramento County, but spent a majority of my time assigned to our Northwest Division.

I also worked as a bike patrol officer while assigned to patrol.  In February of 2005 I transferred to Special Operations as a K9 handler.

Becoming a K9 handler was something that has always interested me.  Prior to coming to K9 I spent several hours each week volunteering as an agitator, playing the bad guy.  My K9 partner is Kaleo who is a German Shepard dog.

Kaleo is two years old, and came from Holland.  Kaleo received his name from an elementary school student, who won the name the police dog contest.  Kaleo’s name means “strong voice” in Hawaiian.  Kaleo is trained in finding people, handler protection, and the apprehension of subjects.  Kaleo will later be trained in explosive detection.  When Kaleo is not at work he enjoys spending time at home with my other German Shepard Diego.
