Sacramento Sheriff K9 Association

In 2014 I was hired by the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff after completing their POST academy. I began working at the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center until 2017 when I was reassigned to the Central Division as a patrol Deputy. While working patrol I began to volunteer for K9 as a decoy and regularly covered K9 handlers during calls for service and searches. Being exposed to the K9 detail sealed my interest in being a K9 handler.

When the position opened, I applied and was selected in September of 2020. I was paired with and three dogs prior to being paired with Jack in July of 2022.

Jack and I are currently working swing shift assisting patrol with calls for service and enjoy the busy pace. Jack's work load consists of locating  wanted suspects and firearms. On Jack's days off, he enjoys lounging on his cot.
